This must be one of the weirdest places we’re ever going to DJ… Tomorrow we’re going to play in the bathroom of a hotel room. Somewhere between the bathtub, the sink and the toilet Dutch Dolls are going to whoop it up! How appropriate for a festival called F.A.R.T.. All kinds of artists have been asked to fill the rooms of the hotel and hostel with installations, mini-exhibitions and performances. At 23.00 the warehouses open up for DJs and live performances.

So on invitation of Johan Kleinjan we’re playing at his SUPERRRMINIFEEST in Room 31 of Boutique Hotel Quartier du Port from 20.00 till +/- 22.30. At 22.30 we’re crossing the street to the Westelijk Handelsterrein where we’ll play a set over a proper PA in warehouse no.15. Come and shake your booty between 23.00 and 24.00, and stick around for more great performances by the likes of zZz, Doktor Schnitt, J.C. Thomaz & The Missing Slippers, DJ Shitmeister T!!

In the process of building our rollator soundsystem we've become somewhat of car audio freaks.. So we're thrilled to be invited to play some bassful tracks in AHOY, Rotterdam during the 100% Tuning event on October 9th and 10th. Meanwhile we’ll be doing some promo for our main dude Remco and his Shop 4 Cars. Can't wait to smell that lovely blend of hairgel, Hugo Boss and exhaustion fumes!

September 18th, we will be DJ'ing with Blanche during the opening of minishop Bazar Bizar at de Meent, Rotterdam. The party won’t be so very mini, because we’re also celebrating the fact that Bazar Bizar won the Gouden Grasspriet award!

After a successful test ride through the parks and streets of Berlin Blanche is now ready to ride the streets of Rotterdam! This Friday, September 17th, you can find us with Blanche at Rotown, Rotterdam where we'll be warming up for the amazing band Bombay Show Pig!! Entrance is free!

So we're in Berlin! We already met some great peeps on our first stroll with Blanche (check our blog for details!)! But unfortunately it has been pouring here for the last few days ... And with the rain our plans for doing all these guerrilla DJ gigs were flushed away. So we decided to try our luck with some clubs and bars (read: places with roofs). And we're welcome at Yaam this Saturday! We're so thrilled; the place looks like a beach, they've got great cocktails and jerk chicken. Drop by from +/- 17.00 till 19.00 at Stralauer Platz 35!!!

The Illustratie Biennale is a new Dutch event that celebrates euh, Dutch illustration! It's all happening in the Toneelschuur in Haarlem this Saturday June 6th. There will be lectures, exhibitions and a shop selling all sorts of illustration-related produchts, including Dutch Dolls designs.

Solo works by both Dolls will be on show at an exhibtion called FINE LINES in project space DEK22 in Rotterdam. No prints, no Photoshopped images, no fuss, just REAL drawings. It opens April 2nd, you can enjoy the art, food and music from 16.00 till 19ish.. This exhibition is immediately followed by IN THE FLESH, currated by our own Geeske, on Apil 29th! Expect big bold work by the likes of Marie Civikov, Wietse Eeken and Niek Westendorp.

Ow how we wish we could be students in the workshop we're giving at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam this week. The workshop is all about ZINES: self published, DIY, low budget little magazines. And we decided to do this the oldskool way, so no computers!! The subject is so much fun and inspiring, and the students' enthusiasm and diligence is so contagious that our own hands are itching to get to work ourselves!

Finally both Dolls are back in Cardiff! On Friday March 26 we're booked in the always bumping 'n grindin Toucan, to DJ at the Word Virus Essay EP launch!! It's going to be an epic night, with support of one of Cardiff's finest MCs Skunkadelic and us playing till the wee hours. Doors are 9 pm and it's absolutely FREE if you arrive before 11 (£3 after).

And we'll be back at the Gwdihw bar on Sunday the 28th for some laidback tunes. We doubt there will be people dancing in their underwear like last time, but please feel free... So come along tonight and put on some good looking knickers!!

Saturday March 6 the annual Museumnacht takes place in Rotterdam. All the museums open their doors till the wee hours and put on a party! Dutch Dolls will be playing a monstrous set at Villa Zebra!

We just returned home after giving a week long workshop at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture. We coached 22 out of the 150 (international) students in creating their dream landscape "the Dutch way". Which meant there was lots of talking and debate about what your personal ideal landscape looks like and how you can make it fit in with the dreams of others. It proved to be quite a challenge!

Have yourself a crafty Christmas this year and come to one of the many crafty marketes in Rotterdam selling designs by young independent artists like us. Blaak10 has a Guerilla Christmas shop that runs from December 11th till January 3rd. After last years huge success, there'll be another Lastminute Xmas Shop at Singersweatshop at December 18th and 19th! Or head over to Katendrecht that same Saturday for Kerst op de Kaap!

On December 22-24 things will get cosy at this event called Geheimnis von Marcus Lansendurferthat, which takes place on this little 'beach' next to the De Machinist (former DD HQ!) in Rotterdam. There'll be glühwein, an open fire, oliebollen, all sorts of performances and a DJ-set by Dutch Dolls on Wednesday the 23rd from 21.00 till 22.00!!

Dutch Dolls will make their Cardiff debut on Friday December 11 at 'Mother Mae I?' - an electro night of mayhem, in the Cardiff Art Institue!! We'll be playing our BANGERS from 23.00 till 24.00!

And come lean with us on Sunday evening December 13th as we bring you macho men, island women, kids, hidden gems, German oddities and the latest hits from Holland (yes, we do have hits) at Cardiff's homiest cafe Gwdihw. Get over your hangover or come get one!!

The Dutch Dolls imperium is slowly expanding... our stuff is now available in ALLEY guerilla gallery in Hasselt, Belgium!! We haven't travelled there yet, but from the website this gallery/shop looks like one of those places where you walk in and want to buy every single thing that's for sale. The exhibitions seem excellent as well; they've got works by Daan Botlek (+ 3 others) on show till January. Amai!

TENT, an exhibition space for contemporary art in Rotterdam, invited Dutch Dolls to participate in an educational project that runs along with their exhibition BLURRR. From the September 9th till November 15th, high school students will work with a collective of artists (among which Geeske) on the installation 'Wildgroei' ('proliferation'). Every move is being monitored, and you can keep track of the whole thing here.

For the fourth time we (or rather Geeske, Nanna couldn't make it to this one) went back to our former art school to teach during another project week. This time the theme was SLOW. We named our project 'Dust off' and the idea was to let the students take a look in their grandma's attic, a dusty drawer, or go to the thriftstore and have them come back with something old and forgotten. That object then served as an inspiration for something new, using various techniques. Again it was a great success; take a look at some of the wonderful results on our blog!

We'll return to HET PAARD in The Hague again on Saturday September 19th. Jacques de la Disque wants us... It happens to be his birthday, so weâll pop champagne, confetti guns and honk the horn in his honour!! We're very impressed with the other guests: Yobkiss will be playing live, plus there is boss of all ravers DJ Donna Summer, known for the notorious Birthday Parties in Berlin!

Summer is over. But it's the start of a new season... the 'cultural season'! Utrecht celebrates this with UITFEEST: a 2-day party with lots of art, poetry, guided tours, music (o.a. Voicst, GEM, Room Eleven and Wolter Kroes) and workshops. All taking place this weekend, September 12th and 13th! Dutch Dolls will be putting the kids to work in Leidsche Rijn. We'll be making a 'Vinex village' out of cardboard boxes. If you're between 2 and 6 years old come join us!!

September is here, which means it's time for the annual Wereld van de Witte de With Festival in Rotterdam! Of course Dutch Dolls are represent! Freehouse and Jeanne van Heeswijk asked us to participate in 'De Markt van Morgen' ('The Market of the Future'). This project is all about the Afrikaandermarkt, a colorful, vibrant market in the southern part of Rotterdam. Local market vendors team up with artists from all sorts of disciplines to create new products for the market of the future. Dutch Dolls got assigned to a very friendly seller of bags.

Especially for the occasion Nanna designed a brand new print and Geeske will be silkscreen printing it on canvas bags LIVE at the marktet, in the stall!! Come down to the Afrikaanderplein this weekend, June 6th and 7th, and watch how she manages to get ink in the weirdest places...

Our designs are now on exhibition at the youth department of the library of Rotterdam which officially opened on April 22nd.

This area of the library is dedicated to youth culture and focuses mainly on music, art, design and computers. It is a place to chill and read, with Dutch Dolls designs in the background! Go take a look if you're in the neighbourhood!

The Willem de Kooning Academy, our former artschool in Rotterdam, invited us back to teach another project about cultural diversity. We'll be sending our students out on the streets of Rotterdam to collect images, ideas, food, in other words: to get inspired. These findings should be the starting point for a new Dutch Dolls collection. You can view some of the results on our specials pages!

The 2nd edition of Tegendraads Festival will take place on April 4th. LVC in Leiden will be transformed into a place for music, art, food and more.

The selection of performing artists is not for the soft-hearted but should be totally surprising and refreshing . It's mostly, punk, noise, grindcore, breakcore, doom and well... experimental stuff. Perhaps you're not into (that kind of) music anyway, and you just like to go shopping. In that case you should check out their HUGE collection of t-shirts, all limited editions and all designed by fellow young artists. Just to name a few awesome ones: Bitches in Control, Ingrid de Lugt, Baschz and Dutch Dolls!

Saturday October 18th things will get sweaty again in the Club zonder Concessies! We will give you the opportunity to show some skin, throw some beer and make some new friends... and enemies.

Yobkiss will kick off the evening at midnight with a dazzling one-man show which can best be described as "the end level of a computergame". Think lasers, smoke machine, live drums and laptopterror. The rest of the evening will be filled with Dj-sets by Dutch Dolls and Lord Zeepsop.

Francesca Vonck has made a very cool and inspiring book for kids about artists (among which Dutch Dolls!) and their workspaces. She visited 20 artists in their natural enviroment: their studio, to see what's cooking there. She then came up with 20 projects inspired by the work of those artists, which kids can make themselves. The book is called ATELIER HASJEE! Buy it! More exclamation marks:!!!!!

Francesca asked us to help out with the presentation of the book, which coincided with the opening of the exhibtion Atelier Hasjee in Villa Zebra. We decorated a cake with hasjee ingredients and the kids had to turn them into monsters... Sounds weird? Noooo!

During the 3rd weekend of September a new fashion event is taking place in Rotterdam: Bridges to Fashion, part of September in Rotterdam 2008. The festival will focus on the fashion climates of Turkey and the Netherlands, with special emphasis on Istanbul and Rotterdam.

Part of this event is BRIDGES TO THE STREETS, where 'street culture' from Rotterdam and Istanbul meet. On Saturday September 20th Dutch Dolls will be presenting their new collection (!!), and will be working on it live on the spot! Other interesting designers, dj's and photographers will be present as well. The location, a former 'gambling palace' in the Hofbogen, and Perron Hofplein is as urban as can be and well worth checking out!

Dutch Dolls have done quite some workshopping latelty! And we enjoyed it a lot!!

From April 11 till 15 we taught a 'project week' at our former art school the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. 27 students from various disciplines worked on our assignment for almost a week. Goal was to transform a random object into something else. There were some surprising results! Take a look at the projectweek pics here.

Villa Zebra (a musuem for children) asked Dutch Dolls and other artists to give workshops at two elementy schools in Rotterdam-Zuid on Thursday April 27th. Geeske and our new intern (!) Marianne turned the schools into a jungle and the kids into wild animals. Dutch Dolls helped the children becoming baboons by making pink BUTT MASKS!

Villa Zebra invited us to create Grandmother's house at the interactive exhibtion for children at Het Gebouw in Leidsche Rijn: ROOODKAPJE (Little Red Ridinghood). We decided to make it a bit more 2008, so instead of a romantic cottage in the woods we made Grannie a flat (inspired by Geeske's current anti-squate housing in a elderly home). The whole thing is made out of cardboard! Highlights: the cuckoo's clock, the hairy dog and the cabinet with ugly cups and glasses.

After two years of hopping around from Arnhem to Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam, the last location of the Blend store has finally closed its doors. The first temporary store of Holland has been a great success. Too bad you can't go and buy our 'Search and Destroy' badges at Blend anymore, but they're still available trough our website and our other retailers.
